RFID Reader ID-20LA (125kHz)

  • Product Code: RFID-ID-20LA

Another solution for RFID reader. This is a super compact RFID reader with integrated antenna, the only drawback would be the pinout are 2mm pitch to pitch (like XBee). Not to worry, we have the breakout board ready. Check out the datasheet, the reading distance is 20cm?? From our testing, it can read the 125KHz RFID card about 7cm range.

The RFID (radio-frequency identification) is the wireless non-contact use of radio-frequency electromagnetic fields, for the purposes of identifying and tracking tags attached to objects. This is the ID-20LA, a very simple to use RFID reader module from ID Innovations. Power the module, hold up a 125kHz card, and get a serial string output containing the unique ID of the card.

* A specific breakout board is included in the package.

Hi, which female header pin need to be soldered on the breakout board? I have bought the 1x40 female header pin but the pin from the ID-20LA could not fit in. ( TK, 27/03/2018 )
Hi, the RFID Reader ID-20LA pin pitch is 2mm (please refer to ID-20LA Datasheet). It fit with Straight 2mm Female Header 1x10 Ways. Thanks.
Can the RFID ID20LA read the 125Khz tag (the blue one based on your online store) continuously ? Because I want to detect the tag continuously which is sticked to a cat. If cannot> what is the solution for this problem? ( Amir Harris, 10/08/2015 )

Hi, you can detect the tag repeatedly as long as the tag is in range. This kind of reader is not suitable because the range for the card to detect is within 7cm only. We do not carry any long range tag reader. For further inquiries you can discuss in our technical forum because there are more technical members for better suggestions.

1. How to can I make a RFID system for staff attendance that only take attendance for staff that touch their card or tag to the RFID reader and store the data or information of staff by their own id in database? 2. So how to integrated the database that store the information of the staff with this RFID reader? 3. What is the programming device can I use to make instruction for the reader to read the id number from the tag card of the staff? 4. Is Arduino suitable for this project? ( cruzersfy, 14/05/2015 )

Basically RFID reader does not provide database or recognition, it only read the ID from the tag or RFID card and send out via serial output. You will have to develop the program and system to store the ID, erase, verify and etc. You can use any microcontroller that have UART interface, and of course that include Arduino. There is a tutorail show it interface with Arduino. If you have further inquiry, please do discuss in our technical forum as this section is for short inquiry, thanks :)
