Another version of Arduino main board. Leonardo is the latest version of Arduino main board from Italy, original. Arduino is an open-source physical computing platform based on a simple i/o board and a development environment that implements the Processing/Wiring language. Arduino can be used to develop stand-alone interactive objects or can be connected to software on your computer (e.g. Flash, Processing, MaxMSP). The open-source IDE can be downloaded for free (currently for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux).
The Leonardo is Arduino's first development board to use one microcontroller with built-in USB. Using the ATmega32U4 as its sole microcontroller allows it to be cheaper and simpler. Also, because the 32U4 is handling the USB directly, code libraries are available which allow the board to emulate a computer keyboard, mouse, and more using the USB-HID protocol!
It has 20 digital input/output pins (of which 7 can be used as PWM outputs and 12 as analog inputs), a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, a micro USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header, and a reset button. It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller; simply connect it to a computer with a USB cable or power it with a AC-to-DC adapter or battery to get started.
  • ATmega32u4 Microcontroller
  • Input Voltage: 7-12V
  • 20 Digital I/O Pins
  • 7 PWM Channels
  • 12 ADCs
  • 16MHz Clock Speed
  • 32 KB Flash Memory
  • Require USB micro cable to load program

----> the link to the IDE "unreachable"Is it the IDE same with the other board? Uno?NOTE: Leonardo Board seem to be more complicated to my Windows Device & Printers Panel.I have Keyboard & Mouse icon appear. Thanks ( LeoNardo, 11/08/2017 )
Hi, Arduino IDE is compatible to all official Arduino boards. For further questions, please visit to our technical forum as this session is only for short inquiry. Thanks.
What is the difference between the arduino Leonardo and arduino UNO? ( Johnny, 09/05/2016 )
Hi, You can refer here for Arduino board comparison. Thanks :)
Is there any board that can replace/control the mouse & keypad in computer other than this one?If yes, what the name of the board? As I can see,Leornardo can do that(giving input as the keyboard/mouse &even overide the keyboard fn-ritght?) I have an idea,to create a joystick/controller for the FSX Flight simulator Game.See if someone can do that... :] ( fsx fan, 17/11/2015 )
Hi, According to this article, Leonardo, Micro, or Due are be able to do so. Here is the sample sketch. If you have further inquiry, please do continue the discussion in our technical forum/facebook group as this session is only for short inquiry. Thanks :)
How can i connect 2 leonardo? where one be the master and the other one is slave. Should i connect A4 and A5 or just use SDA and SCL pins? ( James, 19/05/2015 )
If you want to connect via I2C, you should use the pins near to Vref, which are being labeled SCL and SDA, no A4 and A5 as Leonardo is different compared to UNO :)
If i need to connect a 12V DC motor to the arduino, then how much power supply should i used in order to support both the motor and the arduino? Or it is not suitable to use this type of arduino and i need to find a higher input voltage arduino? ( VIncent, 20/04/2015 )
Well, it goes back to the power consumption of your motor. Arduino Leonardo will not use much power. If you are using small motor, the power can be obtain from the adapter of Arduino Leonardo then to Vin. Please check the setup in shield - 2A motor driver, it has option to get power from Vin which is the power from Leonardo.
